Sample letter:

Kia Ora Ministers,

I am a beach lover and conservationist writing to you about iconic New Chum beach/Wainuiototo. This very special beach has been named one of the top three Wilderness beaches on the planet. It is a vital part of the tourism economy in the Hauraki/Coromandel.

The land behind the beach is owned by developers who have submitted applications to subdivide it on several occasions.  So far, these attempts  to subdivide have been unsuccessful. However, endless court cases are a problem for all and a resolution that protects the landscape values and establishes a conservation vision is urgently needed.

The "Preserve New Chum for Everyone Inc" campaign would like the land to be in an ownership model which would allow biodiversity to be restored and the iconic wilderness features protected for future generations.

I hope that you will publicly support their efforts to conserve the beach by encouraging the government to contribute financially  if there is an opportunity to purchase the land in the future.

Many thanks [your name]
